Biography
Simi was born Simisola Ogunleye, in Ojuelegba, Surulere, in Lagos state. She is the last out of four children.
During an interview with Juliet Ebirim of Vanguard, Simi disclosed that her parents got divorced when she was just 9 years old.
Moreover, she revealed that, while growing up, she used to be a tomboy (Exhibits characteristics of a boy).

Career
Simi grew up as a dancer and member of her local church choir. She wrote her first song at the age of 10.
She started her musical career in 2008 with the release of her debut studio album “Ogaju”.
The album included other of songs such as “Iya Temi” and “Ara Ile”. It was produced by Samklef.
Although she made her debut in 2008, the singer came into limelight after releasing “Jamb Question” in 2016 alongside popular Nigerian rapper Falz.
