Six Killed As Boko Haram Attacks Military Base In Borno

Boko Haram terrorists murdered four police officers and two others during an attack on a military base in Borno state on Wednesday, 4th of March, 2020.

According to reports by security sources, they told AFP that the suspected Boko Haram fighters who came in trucks and carrying machine guns launched an attack on the army base.

The base is located in Damboa, Borno State, Nigeria. Damboa lies on the edge of Boko Haram’s Sambisa Forest.

The attack gave rise to serious fighting.

A military officer who wanted to remain anonymous said: “We lost four mobile policemen and two civilian militia fighting alongside soldiers during the fight with the terrorists.”

Ibrahim Liman, leader anti-jihadist militia confirmed the death toll, after supporting soldiers during the attack.

Nigeria has been facing insurgency for over ten years now and the battle to overcome the insurgency is still on.

The sect has killed thousands, displacing about two million others who have over time moved to neighbouring countries.

According to a local resident Modu Malari, the insurgents attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns, however, they were forced out of the town by troops after an intense two-hour battle.

He also stated that more than 50 residents were wounded by Shrapnel from grenades discharged by the jihadists after some deviated into nearby homes.
