An Economics teacher has been sacked by the State’s government for impregnating a 17-year-old student of the school.
According to reports, the teacher, Mr Owoosi Gbenga, impregnated the SS3 student who apparently, is preparing for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.
Confirming the report, Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Abegunde said the verdict was taken after a six-member disciplinary panel did a meticulous investigation into the case.

He stated that the expulsion of Owoosi will serve as a warning to others who might want to revel in such a horrendous act.
Furthermore, he assured members of the public that the values of Ekiti state will be restored by the present Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
He noted that Fayemi’s administration will not waste time in bringing offenders to justice.
The chairman of the six-member Disciplinary Committee put up for the case, Princess Jumoke Owoola, describe the teacher as “a bad egg capable of contaminating his pupils and fellow teachers.”
According to the disciplinary committee, the case of the dismissed teacher was treated in accordance with the state Public Service Rules, 2017.
Also, the Ekiti State Teaching Service Manual, which prescribed expulsion as the final punishment for severe misbehaviour and criminal offences of such magnitude.
Among other suggestions it made, the committee also recommended that guidance and counselling unit of schools be re-organised to meet the day-to-day hurdles of pupils in line with current social and school activities.
