Pope Francis has been suffering from a cold and has because of that cancelled several appointments. As such, many people suspected he could have been suffering from coronavirus. However, a test has now confirmed that he doesn’t suffer from the deadly disease.

Pope Francis submitted to the swab test as a precaution because of the flu-like symptoms he’s suffering from. According to the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, the test result came out negative.

Francis cancelled a Lent retreat for the first time since he has been in office. Aside from that, he postponed all public meetings at the end of last week over the cold.

Meanwhile, this test result is good news to Catholic faithful around the world who have been expressing their concern.

The Vatican City, where the pope resides, borders Rome, Italy. The nation of Italy is among the worst affected with over 2,000 people infected and 52 deaths as a result of coronavirus.
