Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has questioned the decision to leave the borders open to flight from countries with high cases of coronavirus.

Recently, Nigerian recorded its third coronavirus case of Covid-19. Yet, the government has continued to resist calls to close the borders.

Tiwa Savage has now joined the long list of notable persons to demand that the government shut down the borders or at least quarantine new arrivals for at least 14 days.

“Why are we not closing our borders before it gets worse,” she asked. “I understand we can’t stop citizens from returning but we can test and possibly isolate for 14 days instead of running the risk of letting it spread in the community”

The coronavirus pandemic has upset the world economy, infected over nearly 200,000 persons and killed roughly 8,000 of them according to Woldometers.

Many people have questioned Africa’s ability to handle the deadly bugs, especially now that several European countries that could have come to their rescue are all scrambling around to contain their own respective outbreaks.
