The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has on Friday announced that the United States has cut all ties with the World Health Organization.

Trump accused the apex health organization of being under the control of China despite receiving a significantly smaller annual monetary contribution from the Asian country.

“China has total control over the World Health Organization despite only paying $40 million per year compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450 million a year,” the president said while briefing newsmen in the White House Rose Garden.

“The world needs answers from China on the virus. We must have transparency. Why is it that China shut off infected people from Wuhan to all other parts of China?” he continued.

“It didn’t go to Beijing, it went nowhere else, but they allowed them to freely travel throughout the world, including Europe and the United States.”

”Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs. The World needs answers from China on the virus” he said

Trump has been heavily criticized for his slow response to the pandemic after he repeatedly downplayed the seriousness of the disease during the earlier stages.

However, after the United States became the worst-hit country in the world, he channelled the blames and anger at China and the World Health Organization.
