A Nigeria-born Doctor, James Oniah, and his wife, Mary Nyirongo Oniah, tragically died from COVID-19 ten days apart.

The 79-year-old retired radiologist Oniah who hailed from Anambra state died on April 24. In an unfortunate turn of event, Mary also succumbed to the deadly virus on May 4.

They both died at King George Hospital in Ilford, East London, according to the Daily Mail.

They leave behind 3 children who are still trying to come to terms with the tragic passing of both of their parents within such a short period of time.

Their 25-year-old only son, Oke Oniah, who wasn’t able to talk much simply described them as ‘wonderful parents’ and went on to talk about how they are finding it hard to accept the sad news.

Dr. Oniah studied at the University of Sussex and, before his passing, worked in several hospitals as an agency radiologist.

Mary, on the other hand, was trained as a nurse and a midwife who worked at several health care centres in the UK.

Mrs Oniah, 61, is believed to have contracted COVID-19 during her job as a Regional Director for a care home provider. Thereafter, her 79-year-old husband also contracted the bug.
