The US embassy in Nigeria has taken to its official Twitter handle to debunk reports that it had rejected Bishop David Oyedepo’s VISA application.

Earlier today, popular tabloids across Nigeria published reports claiming that the US Embassy denied the VISA application of the popular Winners’ Chapel founder.

However, the US Embassy, Abuja made the announcement to debunk the news featuring a picture taken from a popular news site.

The announcement reads as follows, “FalseNews Alert! Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false.

“If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false,” it added.

Earlier this year, there were several reports from US tabloids claiming that Trump plans to extend the travel ban to several other countries.

According to reports, nations under consideration for new restrictions include Belarus, Myanmar (also known as Burma), Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania, according to two people familiar with the matter.
