A street in Gwagwa, Abuja has rejected the foodstuff sent to them by the FCTA as palliatives for the COVID-19 lockdown.
Naijahomebased gathered that the leaders in the community had sent it to one pastor in the area, to share among the people.
According to the pastor who did not give his name, they brought it to him in the early hours of Sunday, 3rd of May to share it among the poor people living around him.
However, the pastor seeing how small it is and how hard it is to deal with people on such issues sent it to another trusted elder in the community and asked that it be kept in the elder’s house till later in the evening.
Later that evening, they brought it and opened it to share among the poor people. However, the people rejected the food stuff saying it’s an insult for them to accept it.
Those talking in the background could be heard saying it’s an insult to them.
When the person recording the video told them that “At all at all na im bad pass” meaning no matter how small it is there should manage it, they refused.
One of the residents then asked “who will get and who won’t.”
And they were contemplating sharing either salt or sugar or semovita to each house hold.
“That any household that receives sugar or semovita won’t get salt and vice versa.
In any case, the street which is located along Jiwa road, in Gwagwa, FCT, is made up of more than 60 houses.
A resident who spoke to Naijahomebased said that the people who were at the scene at the time the video was being shot is not up to half of the people living in the neighbourhood.
These explains why the people feel insulted for receiving 6 pieces of small semovita, 3 rolls of sachet tomatoes, 2 salt, 3sugar, maggi tied in nylon.
The beans and Garri you see in the video below and a few sachet power oil. Such disrespect for the people who did not hide their feelings of disappointment at all.
