We regret begging US billionaire for ventilators – Finance Ministry Says, withdraws request

0

The Federal Government of Nigeria has withdrawn its plea for ventilators from South African-American Billionaire, Elon Musk, saying they regret the decision.

Elon Musk wrote a tweet saying they, “have extra FDA-approved ventilators. Will ship to hospitals worldwide within Tesla delivery regions. Device and shipping cost are free. Only requirement is that the vents are needed immediately for patients and not stored in a warehouse.”

Recall that NaijaHomeBased earlier reported that the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning then took to the comment section to beg for 100-500 ventilators from the popular technology entrepreneur.

However, that request infuriated several Nigerians who took to Twitter to slam the move, describing it as embarrassing for the giant of Africa.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has now withdrawn the statement and deleted the tween saying it was “an unauthorised post'”.

The withdrawal was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Communications, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi.

He wrote in a tweet saying, “An unauthorised post was made on the verified Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

“The fact of the post is regrettable because of which it is brought down. We have made sure our internal processes are strengthened that such doesn’t happen again.

“The error is highly regrettable,” he added.
