His penchant for music stems to his Grandfather, Benson Idonije, who once managed Fela Kuti, the widely proclaimed father of Afrobeat.

In an interview with YouTube Music, Burna Boy said when he started his music career, he used to “do songs off of anything” he could find.

He also stated that he “got beats from video games and movies” and used popular music app, FruityLoops, for his productions.

Burna Boy, who attributed Fela Kuti as his greatest inspiration, stated that music was like a punching bag to him.
