Biography and education
Joe boy was born and brought up in Lagos state. Much is not known about his background; however, he is of the Yoruba descent.
Joe boy was brought up in a family that loved music.
Growing up as a kid, he had watched his father, a pianist and his elder brother a singer, performing in their church.
Apparently, growing up in Lagos state, Joeboy had his primary and secondary school education there as well.
He then went further to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Growing up in a musical family, Joeboy started his career at an early age, although he came into recognition after he was discovered by Mr Eazi.
Mr Eazi discovered Joeboy in 2017 after watching an Instagram video of his cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”.
Thereafter, he signed with Mr Eazi’s funding and mentorship program ’emPawa100′.
Joe boy became one out of 10,000 applicants from 14 countries, he was the first of 100 recipients to obtain a share of a $300,000 grant.
After gaining such favour from Mr Eazi’s funding and mentorship program ’emPawa100′, he used his portion of the grant to shoot a music video for his single “Fààjí”.
On the 1st of March 2019, Joeboy released his single “Baby” which hit 20 million streams on YouTube in 2019.
Later on, Joe boy did the music video for “Baby” and it reached million of views on YouTube within a few months. On August 15 2019, he released the Killertunes-produced track “Beginning”.
The EP also contains the Mayorkun-assisted track “Don’t Call Me” and “All for You”.
