The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi speaks on the reason why the identity of the Italian man diagnosed with Coronavirus cannot be disclosed.

According to the commissioner, it will be against medical ethics for the government to disclose the identity.

According to him, it is patient-doctor confidentiality.

You will recall that we published some posts few days ago where Femi Fani Kayode and Senator Shehu Sani were asking questions and stating their doubts as regards this case.

The case of the Italian man happens to be the first case of the deadly Novel Coronavirus in Nigeria; apparently, it is the only confirmed case.

However, about a hundred people have been quarantined already in Lagos and Ogun states where he mixed with people before he was diagnosed with the disease.

Abayomi was quoted to have said: “The details of the #COVID19 patient can’t be given out as it is against the practice of medical professionals. It is a patient-doctor confidentiality.”
