The world’s oldest set of conjoined twins, Ronnie and Donnie Gaylon have died at the age of 68 on July 4.
They died in hospice care in Dayton, Ohio, due to natural causes, Family sources say.
Ronnie and Donnie Galyon who were born on October 28, 1951, came out joined at the waist, sharing a lower digestive tract, rectum and penis, over which Donnie had control. However, they had a separate heart, stomach and set of arms and legs
As children, they worked in the circus as a sideshow attraction to support to pay for their medical bills and support their nine siblings
The brothers broke Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest conjoined twins when they turned 63 in 2014.
They beat the previous record holders, Chang and Eng Bunker who were born in Thailand in 1811 and lived until they were 62-years-old.
Conjoined twins is a highly rare phenomenon. It occurs once in every 200,000 live births.
