The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has given an appointment to the Ekiti-based dad who refused to allow his son to enter into his home after the son returned from Lagos.

The dad identified as Mr Femi Adeoye is a retired FRSC official. According to him, he had asked his son to stay back at Lagos till the end of the pandemic, but the son refused.

A video of some of the things that went on between the father and the son went viral yesterday.

In the video, the man was saying he will not allow his son who just returned from Lagos state, to enter his house.

Lagos state happens to be the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria, and currently has the highest number of infected patients.

Mr Adeoye said his son must isolate for a period of 14 days to be sure he is free from the virus as he doesn’t want his son to spread the disease.

Obviously, many will be impressed by his display of responsibility and one Nigerian who was impressed is the Governor of Ekiti state, Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Fayemi, on Thursday afternoon April 30, invited Mr Adeoye to his office where he applauded him and went on to offer him an appointment to be the COVID-19 Response Ambassador in Ekiti State. 

In his letter titled, “Letter of Commendation For Exemplary Conduct”, the govenor was full of praises for the man.

“The Government and the good people of Ekiti State are very proud of this chivalrous act of courage and principle which are the hallmarks of the Ekiti person.

“Mr Adeoye represents the kind of self-discipline, selflessness, and sense of collective responsibility that Ekiti State and Nigeria need desperately today to progress.

Also in a tweet, Fayemi said, “In accordance with existing regulations, denying his son entry into his household having travelled from places under Federal lockdown against his fatherly advice, Mr Adeoye has proved to be a worthy ambassador of Ekiti State’s resolve to end the #COVID19 pandemic.
