Studying at the Nigeria Defence Academy is the dream of several young Nigerians. Every year, thousands of students with a passion for serving in the military apply for admission into the institution.
Bearing that in mind, we shared a guide on several requirements for joining the NDA.
Many people, however, have demanded that we shed light on the school fees NDA cadets pay per semester.
NDA School Fees (Per Semester)
As a matter of fact, unlike several other institutions in Nigeria, students at the Nigeria Defence Academy do not pay any tuition fees. Conversely, they receive certain monthly stipends to cater to their needs.
To put it differently, cadets at the NDA do not pay the government. Instead, the government pays them every month.
Now, do you see the reason so many people apply to study at the NDA?
Although you will not pay tuition fees after gaining admission into the NDA, you have to spend some money before entering. Given that, you need to purchase the form, which costs 3,000 thereabouts. Moreover, peradventure you’re shortlisted for screening, you have to pay an O’level result verification fee of N2,500 and purchase several things.
They include:
- Writing materials.
- Three blue shorts and 3 white (round-neck) T-shirts.
- A pair of white canvas shoes and 3 pairs of white socks.
- Toiletries.
- Result-checking scratch cards for O’level result confirmation.
- Four recent coloured passport photographs.
- The second copy of Postcard Photograph that was presented and endorsed at the Exam Centre during the NDA Screening Test.
- Transport money to and from Kaduna.
Exceptions
The above information is true for undergraduate applicants. However, you must bear it in mind that NDA has a postgraduate school. While the undergraduate school is open to just aspiring officers, the postgraduate school is open to both officers and the general public.
Unlike undergraduate students (cadets), people who wish to go for their Masters or PhD at the Nigeria Defence Academy have to pay certain tuition fees. And there are no generally applicable fees since it varies with faculties and sometimes department.
For now, we cannot provide a comprehensive information school fees for Masters & PhD students at the NDA. Once we’re able to do that, we shall update this post to reflect such changes.
