How to increase your sales on Fiverr
1. create smart gigs
You can render practically any service in Fiverr. People even offer gigs like “I will prank call anyone, anytime, anything you choose” and get a lot of orders with that.
Fiverr doesn’t place any limitation on custom gig offerings. As far as it is not discriminatory, derogatory or abusive.
Be smart when you create your Fiverr gigs. don’t create a gig that overworks you and at the same time underpays you. You may end up getting burned out.
But you should also bear it in mind not to overprice your gigs. There are most likely top sellers in your sub-category. Those sellers are already favorites of most buyers.
So, the only way you can get buyers’ attention is by offering something cheaper than their favorite sellers. People always look twice when they see cheap things.
However, when you bring your gig pricing down, do not overdo it. You may end up receiving so many orders and getting burned out for low pay.
Here are other quick tips for creating smart gigs
- Use a full-length and grammatical error-free gig description. Fiverr limits your gig description to only 1200 character. That should be enough to quickly showcase your astuteness.
- Use high quality images. If possible, customize your images with your gig name before using them.
- Show samples from past works/projects.
- Add a gig video. Most buyers become more convenient when they see a gig video. And according to Fiverr’s data, gigs with videos convert 220% times than gigs without videos.
2. Make proper use of Gig Extras
Although Fiverr gig pricing start at 5 dollars, you easily add more services/offers and go up to as high as $995 by unlocking the gig extra feature.
Your gig extra can be in form of an extra review, faster deliver, bigger task for an extra money.
Check the gigs of other sellers in your sub-category to get an idea of the proper gig pricing to use.
3. Overcome the first sale barrier
Making the first sale is always the biggest problem for new sellers on Fiverr. In a previous guide, I shared some tips on how to get your first sale on Fiverr. So I shouldn’t be going too deep into that.
Here’s the thing. The only thing people love to test first are: latest cars, clothes, wristwatches and other luxurious stuffs.
On Fiverr, buyers don’t want to be the first to test new sellers. To most buyers, your quality can’t be proven with just your gig description and a nice professional looking profile picture.
Some buyers are not even native English speakers. So no matter how creatively you write, they can’t understand it. Some may even think you copied your gig description from somewhere (anyway some people do that).
All buyers want to see are 5 star ratings. So give them what they want. Get your friends to buy your gig and give you some nice positive reviews.
You still need a nice looking gig though. In order to get a good conversion rate.
4. Stay updated and never miss a thing
Did you know that Fiverr has an android app? If you didn’t, now you do. Although you can enable desktop notification on your computer, the Fiverr app is the most effective when it comes to keeping you updated whenever a buyer sends you a message.
Also, buyers are more likely to drop you a message when they know you are online. With the app installed and your data on, you will always appear to be online.
Staying online will help you get contacted more often by buyers, and ultimately, an increase in your sales.
Fiverr has a community where buyers and sellers have the opportunity to interact. There, you can meet with a lot of people and possibly make friends. You can get to answer questions asked by community members.
The Fiverr community is a good place to get yourself noticed by buyers and sellers alike.
5. Check for buyer requests
I wouldn’t call this one of my favorite techniques. However, it works very well for sellers who probably were not contacted by a buyer for a while.
There’s a feature called buyer requests. It can be found under: Selling > Buyer requests.
In this section of your account, a list of all the requests made by buyers in your sub-category will be displayed. If you are able to contact buyers quickly, you may be get jobs from there.
Now, let me come to why I said it’s not my favorite way to sell.
Most people who go around posting buyer requests are deliberately trying to get jobs done cheaper than the $5 rate (if possible).
Fiverr makes it easy to search for sellers. So, in my opinion, there’s no point posting a buyer request.
If you need a freelancer in any category, you can always search for keywords in that category, browse through the list of freelancers you are provided with. You will more than see a lot of capable hands ready to work with you.
For most buyer requests I’ve seen, the prices they want to offer may be waywardly cheaper than the usual price they would have had to spend by contacting a buyer.
6. Deliver the quality you promised and even better
After all said and done, making more sales on Fiverr comes down to the quality of services you deliver.
If you deliver quality services, not only will buyers come back for more, but will also tell their friends and colleagues about your gig.
Not rendering the quality you promised may get you a bad review. And a bad review can cause a lot of harm to your gig ranking.
Deliver gigs on or before the stipulated time. Fiverr timer starts counting as soon as a gig is ordered. The system is automated, so don’t thing you can by any chance get an extra time. Except if and only if the buyer extends your time.
7. Build a base of loyal buyers
After discussing with a couple of Fiverr top sellers, I discovered their biggest secret to succeeding on Fiverr is by building a base of so many loyal buyers.
And how did they do that?
- Friendliness to buyers
- Acting professionally
- Consistence
- Preferential treatment
The tone with which you use in addressing buyers will make them either feel comfortable around you or not. If you are very friendly to buyers, they will love to contact you whenever they have a job.
When you get good customers, you need to keep them coming back for more. Maintain consistence in your gig deliveries. Not delivering one good gig today and a bad one tomorrow.
Remember to treat loyal customers preferentially. If you get contacted by two customers at once, one a loyal customer and the other a new customer, and you are able to attend to just one person, that one person should be your loyal customer. A bird at hand, they say, is worth more than thousands more in the woods.
8. Create other gigs
Another way to ensure you continue to make sales on Fiverr is by creating several gigs. For a new seller, Fiverr allows you to create up to 5 gigs. Ensure you make the most out of those five gigs.
There are multiple gig creation best practices though. Fiverr doesn’t allow Freelancers to create very identical gigs — the same pricing, offers, gig description, etc.
If you do that, one of your gigs will be deleted — as It will be considered duplicate content.
9. Avoid too many order cancelations
The more orders you complete, the higher Fiverr ranks your gig. And the higher Fiverr ranks your gig, the more sales you make. That’s why you need to maintain a good conversion rate.
Fiverr takes a cut of 20% from whatever sales you make, so they are always more than happy to see a Freelancer with a good conversion rate.
10. Sign up for Fiverr pro
Do you thing you have what it takes to standout from the crowd? If you do, then Fiverr has a feature designed just for you. It is called “Fiverr Pro“, where they select a handful of qualified freelancers who are permitted to go higher than the $995 cap set for regular freelancers.
Selected professionals also get featured on the Fiverr homepage. With a badge differentiating them from the regular freelancers.
With a professional Fiverr account, you can earn 10 times more than what a regular freelancer earns.
What a regular freelancer earns by completing 20 orders, with a pro account, you get to earn that even in one sale.

Often times, buyers visit Fiverr in search of urgent attention. As a result of that, Fiverr created the available now feature. The available now feature is most suitable for people who are struggling to make a lot of sales on Fiverr – as it is not available to sellers with over 5 queued orders.
Enabling the available now feature will help notify buyers that you are online and very much ready to start working on their projects. This is a huge opportunity for new freelancers to quickly increase their sales.
