For instance, if you graduated as a medical doctor, then the DSSC will be most suitable for you. Short Service Combatant Commissions on the other hand are for applicants who which to get deployed to infantry, artillery or other combatant units upon the completion of their one year military training.
One key noticeable difference in the application requirement for DSSC and SSC is the age difference. DSSC permits much older applicants (up to 40 for medical doctors) while SSC is for applicants between the ages of 23 & 27.
The reason SSC requires much younger applicants is because there’s so much need for strength and vibrancy to be able to participate in combatant drills.
Getting deployed to combatant departments is not something suitable for persons up to 40, which DSSC accepts.
However, to apply for both demands either a HND (Higher National Diploma) or a degree, with grades not less than Lower credit and Second Class lower respectively.
